We were delighted to attend the launch of the National Fish & Chip Awards 2024 on Monday 5th June hosted by the current title holder – Whiteheads Fish & Chips in Hornsea, East Yorkshire.

Declaring this season’s awards open for entry, the afternoon started with a presentation by NFFF President Andrew Crook, outlining the categories and the changes that have been made.

This year sees two new awards, Employee of the Year and Best Overseas Fish and Chip Shop, as well as the Drywite Young Fish Frier of the Year making a much-anticipated comeback.

A presentation by Geoff Whitehead, owner of Whiteheads Fish & Chips, followed in which he encouraged shops to enter the awards by highlighting what a wonderful three months he has had so far. He gave special thanks to his team for their hard work and dedication in ensuring they remain top of their game for the 12 months and beyond.

Once the presentations were over, guests were treated to haddock, chips and peas which, as expected, were amazing – worthy of an award even!

Paul Williams, Managing Director at KFE, comments: “It was great to be at the launch and see how The NFFF are moving the awards forward for 2024. It was especially heartening to see Drywite returning with Young Fish Frier of the Year, an award that is close to our heart and which has discovered some exceptional talent.

“We’d like to thank Geoff for his hospitality and encourage every shop to go online, look at the categories and enter at least one award this year. Taking part – let alone winning – really can transform a business.”

The award finals will be held in London in February 2024. Enter now at www.thefishandchipawards.com
