Along with being crowned Fish and Chip Restaurant of The Year, Burton Road Chippy Also won the Staff Training and Development Award.

Congratulations to all of the winners at the National Fish & Chip Awards announced on 20th January 2015 at a prestigious ceremony at London’s Lancaster hotel hosted by Nigel Barden.

Starting in 1987 to raise standards within the industry and generate positive publicity on its behalf the awards are recognised by the participants, consumers and media alike as the ultimate event for the fish and chip industry.

Winners see business expand, employment grow and turnover increase as a direct result of being crowned an award winning business.

Paul Williams, Chief Executive of Seafish, said: “Every year we see a wealth of new and established talent vie for the top title, and the competition gets fiercer each year as a result. This year was no exception and the judges were faced with a particularly tricky job in determining a winner. “

Now in their 27th year, the National Fish & Chip Awards continue to be the most prestigious industry event for anyone involved in sourcing, producing and selling the UK’s most iconic dish.

KFE School of Frying Excellence are proud to sponsor these awards which provide a great platform for media activity/PR opportunities for individual entrants and the fish and chip sector as a whole. There are great media opportunities to be gained by shops by just participating. The Awards also provide a benchmark for business development and can be a strong motivational tool for staff.

We are no ordinary training academy. Our training team of Nigel Hodgson, Mark Petrou and Gordon Hillan are all previous National Fish & Chip Shop of the Year winners and our premises are purpose-built to the highest standards of design and hygiene, incorporating only the very best equipment and ingredients.

KFE is committed to the development and support of the young friers within our industry and continues to support them. In 2012 we took them over to the QBTEC factory in Holland to see where the Kiremko and Perfecta ranges are manufactured along with Dutch style cafeterias and fish shops. In 2013, 2014 and 2015 we have hosted a day at The KFE School of Frying Excellence for the group with new trainer, Garry Rosser also on hand to show them the grilling side of the industry. We look to continue the support in 2016…
