National Fish & Chip Awards
The 2012 Awards are now underway..Now in their 24th year, the Awards recognise and reward businesses producing the best fish and chips across the UK. The Top 10 Regional Finalists for Independent Fish and Chip Shop of the Year have just been announced, congratulations to the following whom are Kiremko users.
Congratulations also to the semi finalists of Young Fish Frier of the year which has just been announced. A special well done to Thomas Wilkinson and Dean Chappelhow from Angel Lane in Penrith and Cori Standing from Fish & Chips at 149 in Bridlington all who are Kiremko users, good luck for the next rounds. There are a variety of award categories to enter and businesses are appraised on criteria ranging from sustainable sourcing practices, customer service, hygiene and staff training, and most importantly, the quality of fish and chips. The Awards provide a great platform for media activity/PR opportunities for individual entrants and the fish and chip sector as a whole. There are great media opportunities to be gained by shops by just participating. The Awards also provide a benchmark for business development and can be a strong motivational tool for staff. Fish & Chips at 149 in Bridlington, battered off competition from shops throughout the UK to claim the prestigious 2011 title. Owners, Matthew Silk and Tracy Poskitt said they have been very surprised at the large increase in turnover since winning the National Fish & Chip Shop of the Year, and within a week of winning the title an order was placed for a 6-Pan L-shaped range. They have offered an open invitation to anyone in the trade who would like to visit them and see for themselves why Fish & Chips at 149 was given the prestigious award this year. "We certainly acknowledge that the Kiremko range has been a significant part of our success because we sell quality fish & chips and Kiremko produces the consistency that we require. The 2012 Awards will culminate in a prestigious awards presentation ceremony in London in January 2012. This annual event is attended by over 500 guests representing the great and the good of the fish and chip industry; from fishermen to suppliers to equipment manufacturers to shops, and is also attended by a variety of media. The event is a highlight of the fish and chip industry calendar and is a fantastic business and social networking occasion.
