Kiremko keeps peace with summer demandFistral Beach, Newquay, Cornwall.Perched on the edge of Fistral Beach, Fistral blu is a premier, three storey beach front eatery comprising a stunning 150 seater glass fronted restaurant, a takeaway, a beach bar, Ben and Jerry’s and, as of two months ago, a fish and chip shop. Catering consultant John Crompton says: “We decided to turn the café on the second floor into a fish and chip shop because we get ludicrously busy in the summer months and it could accommodate the increased volume.” With 60 seats inside, an 80 seater terrace and the ¾ mile sandy beach, covers can reach 600 a day easily in peak season! To deal with that level of cooking John needed a range that he could rely on. He says: “We’ve been here for about seven years now and we are known for quality – from ingredients through to customer service – and we had the same aspirations for the chip shop. Choosing the right range was all part of achieving that as you need good equipment if you are going to produce quality products.” Having been recommended Kiremko by colleagues, John still contacted two other companies. He says: “Kiremko wasn’t the cheapest and it was the most expensive either but it could give me what I wanted, which was something that could deal with the change in volume.” A five pan range with two chip boxes, the Kiremko range which sits proudly behind the counter is a fair size. “It’s excellent because it meets all our needs. Currently I have all five pans cooking, but during the quieter months I can just have one or two working,” John explains. “It allows me to control the energy too, so from that perspective it’s great, but it’s also so easy to operate. Overall I’m really pleased with it.” FACTS: 1.
